I am a board certified internal medicine specialist and a certified hypnotherapist.  The mind and body are very closely connected and I have found hypnosis to be an excellent tool to help connect the mind and body in health.

Hypnosis

    Hypnosis is probably not what you think. Hollywood and stage hypnotists make it out to be
something mysterious and controlling. It is neither. The fact is, your mind is a very powerful tool and
hypnosis helps you use your conscious mind and subconscious  mind to its full potential.

    There are many misconceptions about hypnosis.  Hypnosis is simply a safe state of relaxation.  While in that relaxed state the subconscious mind is open to healthy suggestions. 

    I tell my patients that all of us have been hypnotized before.  For example, a light trance occurs when we drive long distances.  Sometimes, we turn driving over to our subconscious mind while our conscious mind daydreams.  Often, we may not remember the last few turns that we made until we end up at our destination.  Has this ever happened to you?  If so, you were in a light state of hypnosis.

    When  in a state of hypnosis you are relaxed and calm.  You can hear things around you and awaken at any time.  While in this relaxed state your subconscious mind is open to suggestion.  Even if you were to fall asleep while listening to any of the hypnosis tapes, your subconscious mind still hears the positive suggestions.
